RedHouseMedia created an updated brand for Lake Mille Lacs with a new logo and the #DoTheLake tagline. The script-style font honors the rich history of the region, and the color reflects the area’s signature blue water and sky. Together, they reflect the desirability of this recreation destination, strengthen the image of the area, and broaden opportunities for local businesses and organizations. The #DoTheLake campaign won the 2015 Explore Minnesota Travel Marketing Award of Excellence.
In the Lake Mille Lacs visitor guidebook, we used full-color photography and even a four-panel foldout map to highlight the variety of recreation, food, lodging, and activities that visitors and residents love about the big lake in the heart of the state. From the Fantastic Four of trophy fishing, to ATVing and ice fishing, the range of year around enjoyment collected into one enticing book showcased Lake Mille Lacs in a big way—just like the lake.
All manner of digital media were employed in this campaign, including specially targeted e-mail blasts, digital billboards in the metro areas, year-round blogs covering activities across all four seasons, and search engine optimized web copy.
Our #DoTheLake videos capture ongoing fun on, in, and around the lake, all year around. The 30-second commercials feature fast-paced action with clips of many ways to #DoTheLake. Our #DoTheLake videos were used in social media marketing, receiving excellent results.

Enticing snippets of activities are scattered amid facts about the towns, the lake, and Lake Mille Lacs’ heritage. The package of radio advertising, mixed with the other media, rounds out a full complement of ways we’re encouraging people to #DoTheLake.
